Design and Architecture

The facade was designed by Metrogramma, with The One Atelier’s Head of Design Andrea Boschetti leading the concept. The design draws on two reference points: the architectural character of Lisbon itself, and Karl Lagerfeld’s known fascination with optical perception and graphic clarity.

The result is a building that will change as you move past it, a system of aluminium and glass blades refracting Lisbon’s changing light, while Portuguese ceramic tiles beneath the balconies transition from white to the deep red associated with the Karl Lagerfeld brand.

Sustainability is embedded within the architectural language rather than added to it. The balustrades will integrate photovoltaic technology, meaning the building’s solar panels will be the balustrades themselves.

Inside a Lagerfeld Residence

Interior design is being handled by The One Atelier, whose brief was to translate Karl Lagerfeld’s design ethos into a residential language rooted in Lisbon’s own character.

The approach avoids literal references to the late fashion designers archive, but instead, the interiors reflect what the design team describes as Lagerfeld’s attitude: precision, intellectual rigour, and a measured engagement with art, design, and architecture.

Light will play a structural role throughout. South-facing living areas will open onto 180-degree views across the city, integrating Lisbon directly into daily life. In spaces without natural light, such as the spa, carefully diffused illumination will be used to evoke daylight and shape spatial atmosphere.

The penthouse sits above everything with a private rooftop pool fitted with a transparent floor, an architectural gesture that becomes as much a feature of the room below as the one above, with views across the Lisbon skyline in every direction.

The material palette works through deliberate contrast. Black Via Lactea marble, brushed steel, concrete, and mirrored elements will carry the building’s architectural discipline and graphic clarity. Grigio woods, warm timber, and travertine will introduce tactility and domesticity, referencing Lisbon’s architectural heritage while softening the harder mineral surfaces.

Each residence includes a private mirrored-tile jacuzzi and advanced smart-home technology throughout, with dedicated concierge services available to all residents.
